Hamilton Tourism

The Westdale Theatre first opened in Hamilton in 1935. The 593-seat Art Deco designed theatre has been through a few renovations in the past and is currently undergoing a restoration to return it to its original 1935 finishes.

This poster design captures the original look of the theatre with its brick facade, marque and canopy, limestone carvings of the comedy and tragedy masks and the iconic top. It pays homage to the these beautiful old theatres that have been rapidly disappearing over time in favour of the huge multiplexes.

Go see a film when it reopens. It's sure to be a special experience.
